Our “Winter Wisdom” session creates opportunities for Nature Detectives to slow down and listen deeply to the sounds outside. They lay on their back and hold up a finger each time they hear a sound. After a few minutes, we sit up and share the sounds we heard.
Rainy days create opportunities to talk about where the rain comes from and where does it land? We find the answers in stories we read and share. Then we open the door to our room and listen for the sounds of soft drizzle, a hard pounding rain, or claps of thunder. We make rainsticks to celebrate the rain. In the following session, we play a concert of Earth Music; shaking our rainsticks and other found objects as instruments to create our own storm.
