Our Approach to Engaged Learning
Loosely structured one-hour sessions are mobile. They can happen on a school campus, in the neighborhood, nature center, museum or other site where children gather after school, or as a family event on weekends
Nature Discovery Journals are the heart of Nature Detectives. Our activities integrate science, literacy and the arts. Students observe, measure, write, draw, and learn the “visual language of nature,.” Students create new Discovery Journals on the first day of each new seasonal session. become a written record of each season’s projects and demonstrates both their new skills and shared experiences.
Discovery Journals become the pathway toward developing an understanding and respect for the outdoor world – plants, animals, places, landscape – and create meaningful connections as the outcome.
